Why Supplier Diversity Matters
Fluor operates across highly diverse markets that are best served by correspondingly diverse resources, including suppliers and subcontractors. Just like employee diversity, the inclusion of diverse suppliers and contractors promotes innovation and competitiveness, contributing to Fluor's goal of providing clients with quality services at competitive costs.
Fluor's Supplier Diversity Program
Supplier diversity is an integral component of Fluor's sustainability program, contributing to environmental stewardship, economic growth, and social progress. These principles guide Fluor's supplier diversity program and align with related goals and standards of the U.S. government regarding small minority- and women-owned businesses.
Diversity supplier categories include minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, LGBT-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, historically underutilized business and Small Business Administration (SBA)-defined small business concerns. The program proactively identifies new diverse suppliers through research and participation in trade fairs, workshops and conferences.
Fluor holds its supply chain accountable to Fluor's business code of conduct for suppliers and contractors and high standards for business practices.
Expanding Supplier Diversity
Fluor is a corporate member of regional and national diversity councils and has representation on local diversity boards. These organizations include the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Fluor also supports Federal programs associated with the Small Business Administration, Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, and others by participating in, and providing sponsorships for, supplier outreach and networking events.
Fluor is committed to streamlining the challenging entry process that diverse suppliers often encounter in bidding for opportunities with corporations. Through programs like "How to do business with Fluor" and seminars on industry-specific topics, Fluor supports the growth of the diverse supplier community.
In 2019, the share of Fluor's supplier spend with certified diverse suppliers and contractors within the United States reached 16 percent.
